Starting new year in new roles
As we begin the new year, we are pleased to announce several promotions of our colleagues.
Aleksandra Jemc Merc, Jure Levovnik and Ozbej Merc were promoted to Senior Partners.
Jure also took on the role of a Managing Partner, joining Srečo Jadek and Aleksandra Jemc Merc, who have already been acting as managing partners. With the new year, Pavle Pensa is leaving the position of a managing partner, and continues his work as a senior and founding partner.
Aleksandra’s role as Head of the Advisory Unit has been taken over by partner Janja Zaplotnik.
Another change took place in the management of the Dispute Resolution Unit, where Jure Levovnik was replaced as Head by partner Mitja Podpečan.
Our firm has also gained a new partner, as Nastja Merlak has been appointed partner.
The promotions are in line with our core values. We are constantly developing our law firm and combining new knowledge and youthful drive with experience and wisdom. We reward expertise, personal qualities and contributing to the development of the firm.

Aleksandra Jemc Merc is Senior Partner and one of the Managing Partners whose main areas of practice include corporate law, commercial contracts, intellectual property law (in particular patent disputes) and regulations in the field of pharmaceutical industry.
Jure Levovnik is Senior Partner and one of the Managing Partners with vast experience in representing domestic and foreign clients in complex commercial disputes and arbitrations. He is also specialised in the field of electronic communications and information technology law and energy law.
Ožbej Merc is Senior Partner and Head of the Transaction Unit, specialised in mergers and acquisitions, insolvency and restructuring and financial law, and has participated in most of the restructurings of large systems in Slovenia and has been providing advice on the most demanding M&A transactions and issues related to mergers and acquisitions (Takeovers Act, Financial Instruments Market Act, Financial Collateral Act, Financial Operations, Insolvency Proceedings and Compulsory Winding-up Act, Banking Act, Insurance Act).
Janja Zaplotnik is Partner and Head of the Advisory Unit, specialised in the field of competition law and state aids, as well in terms of ensuring the compliance of operation with competition law and representation in proceedings before competition protection authorities and courts as in terms of competition law aspects of mergers and acquisitions. She also deals with commercial contracts and consumer law.
Mitja Podpečan is Partner and Head of the Dispute Resolution Unit with extensive experience particularly in court and administrative proceedings. In addition to the specialist skills in commercial and civil law, he possesses indepth knowledge of information and telecommunication technology, which particularly with regard to personal data protection, electronic communications, electronic commerce on the market, new economy and new technologies, he combines successfully with his legal knowledge.
Nastja Merlak is Partner who advises clients on corporate law, insolvency law and banking and finances. She participates in procedures of mergers and acquisitions and restructurings, particularly in the creation of property insurances. During her master’s studies at London School of Economics and Political Science Nastja gained in-depth knowledge of financial regulation and international finance, which she continues to upgrade with her work in the office. With her skills, she assists also in procedures of international arbitration.
